Feasibility studies, technology evaluation, and concept development for novel electronics challenges. We take on the hard problems that require deep investigation before a line of schematic is drawn.

Product Design & Prototyping

End-to-end hardware development from initial schematics through advanced PCB layout — including high-density interconnect (HDI), controlled-impedance RF boards, and exotic substrate materials — through to BOM optimisation and working prototypes ready for manufacture. We design for manufacture from day one.

Senior engineers,

Electro-Technical is an RF and electronics engineering consultancy in Bristol. Most of our work is early-stage R&D: working out whether something is feasible, designing the RF and electronics, and building and testing prototypes.

Day to day that means RF and microwave design, antennas, Ansys HFSS and SiWave simulation, EMC pre-compliance and fault-finding, high-speed and HDI PCB design, and firmware. Recent work includes RF drive and signal chains for photonic and quantum sensing.

We have our own lab and workshop in east Bristol, so design, build and measurement happen in one place, and clients are welcome to come and have a look. Every project is handled by an engineer with at least a decade of relevant field experience. If a project isn't a good fit for us, we'll say so early.

Scoping & proposal

For anything beyond a simple job, a short paid scoping study pins down the architecture, the risks and a costed route to a working prototype. Then a clear statement of work with milestones, deliverables and pricing.

Execution

Regular written updates, and designs reviewed at each milestone. You retain full IP ownership of everything we produce for you.

Handoff

Full design files, documentation, BoM, and a knowledge transfer session. We structure handoffs so your team can own what we've built.
